Food Church Visioneers arrived at Selah in September of 2024, delighted to find an array of existing edible and medicinal plants on the property and throughout the surrounding, undeveloped land. Property owner and Village Visioneer Lindsey had planted test seeds of buckwheat and chia in early summer.
Food Church Property, temporarily named Llano, is located in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range of New Mexico at roughly 8,000ft above sea level. The Selah Food Church Property is situated on a south-facing slope at 7,000 ft above sea level. The property is laden with rocks of all sizes and many downed tree trunks, which constitutes building material for adding swales and terraces throughout the grounds to increase water retention in the soil.
Food Church Visioneers arrived for September of 2024 with initial goals of observation and planning of future projects. Village Visioneer Lindsey devised a building plan to increase the property’s rainfall catchment with a new shed structure.
