Food Church founders have been granted use of a new property just north of Taos, NM in Valdez. This 5-acre property has housed Food Church headquarters since Spring 2025 and features acequia irrigation through terraced beds for ample planting space.
Food Church was blessed to acquire space at a Taos-regional property for office headquarters and plenty of space for planting! With passively irrigated beds already in place filled with existing varietals, we planted some additional vegetable, medicinal herb and roots for the summer season.
Along with medicinal harvests of burdock, mallow, calendula, clover, thistle, gumweed, we also had significant harvests of radishes, wild spinach, walking onions, sunchokes, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers. While a portion of the harvests were transferred to the kitchen, most were replanted in new areas of the garden for continued growth next year.
The Valdez property is in line to grow into a full fledged Food Church property for 2026, complete with additional Resident Stewards and loads of planting expansion!
