Worship Services
Food Church is open to members of any religious faith and/or belief, provided they also believe in the Creed of Food Church.
Food Church does not seek to contradict the teachings of any religion or belief-system, rather seeks to underline and enhance the faith of all people.
FOOD CHURCH CREED
- I believe in the Earth, sometimes referred to as Gaia or Our Planet, a sacred union of Father Time, Mother Nature, and Divine Ether.
- I believe that Water, as the source of all life, is itself a living entity, and should be treated accordingly.
- I believe that all living things should have free access to everything they need to thrive. For humans this is defined as clean air, living water, fresh food, as well as adequate time and safe space for focused introspection.
- I believe that the human is a being created according to nature’s laws and is therefore dependent upon them, and thusly human culture should strive to comprehend and copy nature.
- I believe that the Earth is alive and that humans have a responsibility to live in harmony with the rest of its inhabitants.
- I believe that community provides our best chance at survival, where we can learn from elders and share Arts with the world.
- I believe that the everything is made up of Divine Ether, sometimes referred to as Qi, and therefore I have a personal connection and am able to commune directly with the Universe at large and everything within it.
FORMS OF WORSHIP
Food Church recognizes many forms of worship, but primarily the following: immersing oneself in nature; helping plants and animals grow; keeping water cool and shaded; and freely sharing resources with all living things. All Food Church locations are worship environments and provide a variety of worship activities.
Guided Worship Service shall begin roughly two hours after sunrise each Monday and consists of Grounding, Gratitude, Check-In, Goals, and Worship Tasks
a. Grounding shall be a few minutes spent in guided meditation. This allows members to clear their mind and allow space for Higher Emotions (Love, Gratitude, Joy) and focused attention on Guided Worship Tasks.
b. Gratitude shall be an opportunity for each member to share one or more things they are thankful for that week. This allows members to display and receive gratitude, elevating the collective energy in preparation for Worship Tasks.
c. Check-in shall be an opportunity for each member to share one or more things on their mind other than gratitude, including but not limited to: grievances, hopes, desires, and ideas. This allows members to communicate pressing issues, and fosters trust and connection within Food Church members.
d. Goals shall be the time where Visioneers and Department Boards detail the Worship Tasks, new responsibilities and answer any questions.
e. Worship Tasks shall be the time where members worship together to complete the Expectations. Worship Tasks will be primarily helping plants and animals grow; keeping water cool and shaded; and freely sharing resources with all living things.
Self-Guided Worship Service shall be held at times designated by Village Visioneer, and will consist primarily of immersing oneself in nature, helping plants and animals grow; keeping water cool and shaded; and freely sharing resources with all living things.
Additional Worship Opportunities: *Four Sacred Feasts shall be held each year at the time of the equinoxes and solstices. All members are encouraged to attend if they are able. Four Profane Feasts may be held each year at the halfway points between equinox and solstice, when resources allow.
Through repeated practice of Worship, Food Church members will increase their quality of life and be able to thoroughly achieve Oneness with the Earth.
